Jim Skelton is a seasoned executive with more than 35 years of experience providing strategic advisory and operational improvement services to companies in various stages of distress or transition. Throughout his career, Jim has helped numerous middle-market companies enhance their business performance and maximize value for all stakeholders on projects ranging from performance improvement, strategic planning, crisis management, interim management, M&A activities, and transaction execution. He has held a variety of interim senior-level roles including Chief Executive Officer and Chief Restructuring  Officer for companies across a range of industries, successfully leading them through the restructuring process both in and out of court situations. Jim has also served on the Boards of Directors of various public and private companies, including serving as Chairman for some of these companies.

As a financial advisor, Jim has represented both private and public clients in negotiating financing placements of debt and equity, raising private equity, and has been actively involved in the valuation and sale of numerous companies, including Shoe Pavilion, Smart Move Auto, Big A Drugs & Drug Emporium, Care Level Management Group, Drawer Box Specialties, GreSean Industries, Plasmon, Inc., among others. As a private equity investment principal, Jim headed up two separate institutional investors’ Turnaround Investment groups, where he was responsible for originating, underwriting and managing the portfolios, which included over $100 million in equity investments in both cases, and yielded above-market returns over the life of the investments.


Jim earned his B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and an MBA in Finance and Economics from the Johnson School at Cornell University. He is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and has been an active member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), having served on the Boards of both the Chicago and Northern California Chapters. Jim is also a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and has been a frequent speaker on topics relating to corporate restructuring and turnaround investing.
